I AM A 31 YEAR OLD CORRECTIONAL OFFICER WHO LOVES TO WRITE POETRY, I HAVE A SINCERE DESIRE TO ADOPT CHILDREN AND TO BECOME A TEACHER SO THAT I CAN MAKE THE DIFFERENCE IN SOME CHILDRENS LIVES.
I AM SEEKING A GRANT OR SCHOLARSHIP TO PAY FOR THE EDUCATIONAL COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH MY RETURNING TO COLLEGE TO BECOME A TEACHER. I HAVE WORKED FOR THE NORTH CAROLINA DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTION FOR 7 YEARS AS A CORRECTIONAL OFFICER, AND HAVE ALWAYS HAD A DESIRE IN MY HEART TO GO TO COLLEGE IN ORDER TO BECOME A TEACHER.
I TRULY FEEL THAT I CAN MAKE A POSITIVE CHANGE IN THE LIVES OF THE CHILDREN THAT I TEACH. I HAVE WITNESSED FIRST HAND, WORKING WITH THE DEPT OF CORRECTION WHAT HAPPENS TO CHILDREN WHO DONT GET MOTIVATED AND ENCOURAGED IN THEIR CHILDHOOD; I HAVE LEARNED THAT THOSE KIDS BECOME ADULTS WHO END UP MAKING DECISIONS THAT USUALLY RESULT IN DEATH OR INCARCERATION. I FEEL THAT WITH THIS KNOWLEGE INSTILLED IN ME I CAN BE THAT POSITIVE ROLE MODEL THAT SO MANY CHILDREN NEED AND DESIRE, AND IF I CAN PREVENT ONE PERSON FROM MAKING A WRONG DECISION THAT WILL DESTROY THEIR LIFE THEN I HAVE FOUND SUCCESS.
I DONT HAVE MANY NEEDS REGARDING EDUCATIONAL WISE, I COULD USE THE EXTRA MONEY TO PAY FOR MY SCHOOLING, AND I COULD ALSO AFFORD TO PAY MY BILLS SO THAT I CAN WORK LESS AND PAY MORE ATTENTION TO MY EDUATION.
